Quake Jolts Kashan

TEHRAN An earthquake measuring 3 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale shook the northwest of the city of Kashan in Isfahan Province on Monday.

An official with the Office of Isfahan's Governor General, Mansour Shisheh-Foroush said on Monday that the quake occurred in areas near the Province of Qom.

The tremor caused neither loss of life nor damage, the official pointed out.

According to experts the areas hit by the Monday morning tremor is a quake-prone zone in Isfahan Province.

In the past, the region had been a scene of earthquakes, which have inflicted heavy damage, the experts further said.
